2016

Another amazing year for us all.
2016 saw the Melbury Ranges pass inspection and on December 17th we were granted our range safety certificate allowing us to at long last shoot on the range.
It was a busy year not helped by constant rain for the first 4 months this stopped all ground work and earth moving and jeopardised our planned completion date of the out door ranges. However work continued at speed on the covered firing point. Smart new sliding doors were fitted, all electrical and plumbing work was completed, fixtures and fittings were all in place. In April the earth movers were back on site. Work on the butts was completed and top soil laid up to the 50 meter mark. Many many hours were then spent picking stones up from the range, a laborious task that seemed never ending. Target frames had been made for all the distances and we now set about lining everything up, sounds simple but not as simple as it sounds, however we got their in the end.
The range still looked a mess. After all the earth moving and rain nothing much was yet growing and the range was far from pleasing to look at. Wood chip paths were laid to each target area allowing us to avoid the mud when changing targets. We planned to grass seed the range up to the 50m mark early in 2017. A hard surface car parking area was laid during the year, a small change that had a big & positive impact.
