2014

2014 was an exceptionally busy year both on and off the site. The committee and sub committees continued to work tirelessly behind the scenes. Architects drawings had been made, planning applications had been granted, environmental surveys carried out....all manner of different administrative tasks were tackled and club members were still enthusiastic and willing to work. On site club members continued to work hard preparing the site in many different ways.  Members with hydraulic diggers and hefty power tools started to dig out and demolish things, yet more fires were lit, hedges were maintained, site security was upgraded, areas were strimmed and cut back and yet more fires were lit. The one thing we were lacking was money. It was important that we clear the buildings that were not needed and also clear that we simply did not have the manpower or tools necessary to demolish the huge reinforced water tank that dominated the site and so the decision was taken to employ a professional demolition contractor to take care of this work. In October 2014 Coles contractors moved onto the site and made short work of what had been a big problem for us.
In December 2014 we received some outstanding news. Our grant application to Sport England had been accepted and we had been granted £ 75,000 to progress the project at Melbury. We then had the means to progress the with the building work at a pace.
