Open Double Dewar Meeting

Photos and results now online.

ree

Although the entry was slightly down on last

time, we still had a great day at Melbury

yesterday for the Double Dewar Meeting,

renewing acquaintances old and new, and

with some good shooting in fairly challenging

conditions - there was plenty of mirage

particularly visible at 100-yards, and a tricky

light wind.

Full results will be emailed to all entrants later,

and are also on the notice-board at Melbury

for you to see, but particular mention should

be made of Amy, who not only won Class B

prone, but also the ladies’ and the mixed

pairs with Jon Morris, while Gary Green won

Class B bench rest as well as the veterans’,

and also the pairs with Steve Hutchins. Neil

Prideaux won the English Match section and

came a close second in Class A of the Double Dewar.

Paul Batten took his customary winner’s place at the top

of Class A prone and the veterans’ and with Roger Bird

took the pairs event also. Lovely Dartington Crystal

engraved glasses as well as medals were presented at

the close of the meeting. Any not collected yesterday

will be available to pick up from Saturday.

Such meetings don’t run themselves, so I am very

grateful to everyone who assisted me - those who

stayed behind after Saturday’s shooting session to help

set up the range, the range officers who kept everything

running smoothly, Sue and Amy with their usual excellent

range of refreshments (the smell of bacon wafting on to the firing point was quite a

distraction !) and everyone who helped clear up quickly at the close of the meeting forgetting Jon who made sure that the whole range was mown and looking its best. - not

Thank

you all.

Our next two meetings are the Robeda (June 14th) and the English Match for prone and

bench rest (July 20th) - forms are available at Melbury, please sign up as soon as you can.
